.metal was absent from EXTENSION_MAP, so Metal Shading Language files were
silently skipped. MSL ≈ C++14, and the C++ grammar extracts its functions,
structs, type aliases, and call edges at parity with plain C++ — except MSL's
post-declarator [[attribute]] annotations, which misparse struct fields into
spurious extends refs from the struct to the field's own type (a wrong
inheritance edge whenever the repo typedefs float3/float4x4 itself, common in
shared ShaderTypes.h). blankMetalAttributes blanks them pre-parse,
offset-preserving, following the blankCppExportMacros pattern (#1061), gated
to .metal files only — in regular C++ the attribute position is legal syntax
the grammar parses natively. The preParse hook gains an optional filePath
param to support the gate.
Validated on llama.cpp's ggml-metal.metal (10.7k lines: 130 kernels vs 113
`kernel void` ground-truth lines, rope_yarn resolves its 4 kernel callers)
and SDL's shaders (PQtoLinear ← GetOutputColor), 0 bogus extends edges.

* feat(extraction): universal recovery of macro-mangled C/C++ function names
The curated inline-macro blank list (#1100/#1101) can't enumerate every
library's macro. Add a universal post-parse net so a function is findable by
name regardless of which macro decorates it, plus a batch of common libraries
to the curated list for full name+return-type recovery.
- recoverMangledCppName: after extraction, recover the real identifier from a
name still mangled by an un-blanked macro (`MACRO Ret name(…)` misparses to
"Ret name"). It's a new `recoverMangledName` extractor hook wired only onto
C/C++, applied to every name they produce. Safe by construction: it only
touches an already-mangled name (an internal space that isn't a legit
`operator …`/destructor), so a clean name is returned unchanged; guarded
against the `Ret (name)` parenthesized-name idiom and bare primitives. Scoped
to C/C++ so Kotlin/Scala backtick identifiers (which legitimately contain
spaces) are never touched.
- Curated list extended past UE/pugixml/Godot/Boost to Qt (Q_INVOKABLE, …),
Folly, Abseil, LLVM, V8, Eigen, and rapidjson.
Validated on CARLA (large UE project, 1131 C++/h files) vs the pre-fix baseline:
function-name mangles 440 -> 6, 431 fixed, and — critically — 0 regressions
(the salvage also recovers names that the pre-parse's own non-local error-recovery
shifts would otherwise re-mangle, erasing the 7 shifts seen in #1101). The 6
residual are all the moodycamel `Ret (name)` idiom, correctly left alone. On a
made-up macro with no list entry (`WEBKIT_EXPORT WTFString compute()`), the name
`compute` is still recovered. Full suite green; eleven regression/safety tests added.

A `class Foo;` forward declaration parses as a bodiless class_specifier.
extractStruct (#831) and extractEnum already skip their bodiless forms,
but extractClass did not — so every forward decl across dozens of headers
minted a phantom bodiless `class` node that competed with, and could be
picked as the blast-radius representative over, the single real definition.
Add an opt-in `skipBodilessClass` extractor flag (set only on cppExtractor)
and skip a bodiless class node when it's set, mirroring the struct/enum
skip. The flag keeps this C/C++-scoped: languages where a bodiless class is
a complete definition (Kotlin `class Empty`, Scala `case object`/`trait`)
leave it unset and are unaffected. The body is now resolved once at the top
of extractClass and reused for the member walk.
Regression tests cover the collapse to a single definition, elaborated-type
references creating no phantom, and Kotlin/Scala staying indexed.

Lombok generates getters/setters, builder(), equals/hashCode/toString, and
the @Slf4j log field at compile time, so they never appear in the source AST.
Static extraction missed them entirely, so a bean.getName() / User.builder() /
log.info() call resolved to nothing and call-chain analysis broke silently —
the agent would conclude the method didn't exist.
Add a synthesizeMembers hook on LanguageExtractor, called at the end of class
extraction (class still on the scope stack, real members already extracted), and
a Java implementation that synthesizes the mechanical members for @Getter,
@Setter, @Data, @Value, @Builder/@SuperBuilder, @ToString, @EqualsAndHashCode,
and the @Log* family. Each node is anchored on the field/class name-token leaf
(so it pulls in no spurious value-reference scope), marked with a `lombok`
decorator and a docstring naming the generating annotation, and never overrides
a member the source already declares. Methods and fields are deduped separately
since they're distinct namespaces in Java (a boolean field `isRunning` and its
generated getter `isRunning()` coexist).
Deliberately not synthesized: constructors (new X() already links via
instantiates, and overloaded @NoArgs/@AllArgs/@RequiredArgs ctors would collide
on a synthetic node id), fluent builder setters, and @Accessors(fluent=true).
Validated on eladmin (274 Java files, Lombok-heavy): 100% accessor precision
(878/878 map to a real field), 722 previously-broken calls now resolve;
spring-petclinic (no Lombok) control synthesizes nothing.

Every TS `public_field_definition` / JS `field_definition` extracted as a
method-kind node, so a plain field (`public fonts: Fonts;`) was reported
as callable: class shape was misrepresented, kind-based filtering was
defeated, and bare-name call resolution landed on data fields — typeorm's
boolean `ColumnMetadata::isArray` field was soaking up Array.isArray(...)
call edges (685 such wrong edges on typeorm alone).
Classification now follows the VALUE (classifyMethodNode hook, mirroring
resolveBody's callable detection): arrow-function / function-expression
fields and HOF-wrapped ones (`onScroll = throttle(() => {…})`) stay
methods with their bodies walked; everything else becomes a property that
keeps its type-annotation references edge, visibility, static-ness, and
decorators. Field initializers are now walked too (`history =
createHistory()` attributes the call to the property — previously
invisible), and JS class fields — whose name lives in the grammar's
`property` field, so they never extracted a symbol at all — now appear in
the graph (resolveName on the JS extractor).
With fields correctly kinded, `this.X` callback registration is re-enabled
for TS/JS (removed in #807 because field pseudo-methods made it mostly
wrong): `this.<member>` candidates resolve CLASS-SCOPED
(resolveThisMemberFnRef) — the target must be a function/method sharing
the from-symbol's qualified-name class prefix, same file, no fallback —
so `addEventListener("online", this.onOfflineStatusToggle)` and API-object
wiring (`{ mutateElement: this.mutateElement }`) produce registration
edges to the enclosing class's own method, while `this.fonts` (a
property) and inherited/unknown members yield no edge.
A/B (baseline = #807 main): excalidraw / typeorm / express — node counts
identical on all three; kinds shift method→property only (typeorm: exactly
7,406 swapped; excalidraw also corrects 5 anonymous-class mock fields that
were function-kind); every one of the 736 dropped call edges targeted a
node that is now a property (calls into data fields — verified 100%);
gains are retargets to real callables, initializer-call attributions, and
+74/+7 class-scoped this.X registration edges (sampled: addEventListener/
removeEventListener wiring, imperative-API method maps). Full suite green
(1386).
EXTRACTION_VERSION 19 → 20 (re-index to benefit).
Closes#808

A C++ method call whose receiver is another call's result — `Foo::instance().bar()`,
`WidgetFactory::create().draw()`, `openSession()->run()`, or the same stored in an
`auto` local first — lost the receiver's type during extraction. The callee degraded
to a bare method name, so when two classes shared a method name the call silently
resolved to whichever was indexed first (or not at all), corrupting callers / impact /
trace with a plausible-but-wrong edge.
Three parts:
- Capture C++ return types (new nodes.return_type column, schema v5): the
function_definition's `type` field, normalized — smart-pointer pointee unwrapped,
void/primitives dropped.
- Preserve the inner-call receiver in extraction: a C/C++ field_expression whose
receiver is itself a call is encoded `inner().method` instead of dropping to the
bare name. Other languages keep the existing behavior.
- New resolution strategy (matchCppCallChain): infer the receiver's class from the
inner call's return type, then resolve AND validate the method on it. Handles
singletons/accessors, factories returning a different type, free-function
factories, make_unique/make_shared/new/direct construction, single-level member
chains, and namespace-qualified inner calls. A wrong inference yields no edge,
never a wrong one.
EXTRACTION_VERSION 2->3 (re-index to populate return types).
Validated on the issue repro + spdlog: node count stable (no explosion),
deterministic, and ~100 pre-existing wrong `.size()`-style edges removed.

Vendor tree-sitter-c-sharp 0.23.5 (ABI 15) for C#, replacing the bundled ABI-13
build that dropped primary-constructor classes. Adds native primary-ctor
parsing, primary-ctor parameter dependency edges, return-type extraction via the
renamed `returns` field, and a preParse that blanks `#if` directive lines the
new grammar mis-parses inside enum bodies. Validated on MediatR / eShopOnWeb /
Newtonsoft.Json + full suite.

Completes the cross-file dependency graph behind impact / affected / explore across all 22 supported languages and 14 web frameworks, validated on real-world repos (measured fair-coverage table added to the README). Per-language resolution + framework resolvers/synthesizers (Lua/Luau require, Shopify OS 2.0 Liquid sections, Delphi forms, Rust cross-module + Rocket macros, Swift Fluent, SvelteKit/Nuxt loader/component conventions, RN/Expo bridges). 0 cross-family false edges, full suite green (1187 passed). Wrap top-level declarations of `.kt` / `.java` files in an implicit `namespace` node carrying the file's `package`, then resolve `import com.example.foo.Bar` through that qualifiedName index — so a Bar in Models.kt resolves correctly regardless of filename, a top-level function import binds to its declaration, Java↔Kotlin interop crosses cleanly, and same-name classes across packages no longer collide. Wildcard imports still go through name-matcher.
Also extracts Java/C# anonymous-class overrides (`new T() { ... }`) as first-class class nodes with their override methods. Phase 5.5 interface-impl then bridges T's abstract methods to the anonymous overrides automatically — including the lambda-returned `new T() { ... }` pattern common in guava (Splitter, CacheBuilder).
Concrete impact on macrozheng/mall (524 .java files, multi-module Spring + MyBatis): 524 namespace nodes, 862 imports edges newly resolve to Java symbols, 76 distinct `Criteria` classes preserved across packages with no merge. On google/guava (3,227 .java): 3,608 anonymous classes extracted, +2,534 interface-impl edges reach overrides hidden in `new T() { ... }` blocks.
Agent A/B playbook on small (spring-petclinic-kotlin, 38 .kt), medium (mall, 524 .java), large (guava, 3,227 .java) — 3 flow prompts × 2 runs/arm × 2 arms = 36 runs, claude-opus, headless. Spring repos: 0/0 Read/Grep with-arm, −27% wall-clock vs no-codegraph. Guava: 1.8 Read avg with-arm (vs 2.0 without) — improved by the anon-class extraction; residual is a lambda→SAM coverage gap orthogonal to FQN imports (filing follow-up).
Adds tree-sitter-objc extractor for `.m`/`.mm` files and `.h` files
that content-sniff as Objective-C (`@interface`/`@implementation`/`@protocol`/`@synthesize`).
Extraction covers:
- `@interface` / `@implementation` (deduplicated into a single class node)
- `@protocol` (as `protocol` nodes via new `interfaceKind` config)
- Methods with full multi-part selectors (`doThing:with:`, not just `doThing`),
including `+`/`-` static distinction
- `@property` declarations
- Inheritance (`extends`) and protocol conformance (`implements`)
- C-style `function_definition` and `#import` (both `<system>` and `"local"` forms)
- Call edges from both `call_expression` and `message_expression`,
with `self`/`super` skipped on qualified callee names
Two new generic hooks on `LanguageExtractor` (`resolveName`,
`extractPropertyName`) handle the cases where the default name walk
doesn't fit; usable by future languages with similar shape.
Import resolver tries `.h`, `.m`, `.mm` for `objc` imports.
Validated on AFNetworking (84 files, 100% file coverage), RestKit
(282 files, 99.6%), and Texture (926 files, 100%, heavy `.mm`
content) — multi-keyword selectors preserved up to 7 parts, no parse
failures on ObjC++.
Known limitations (disclosed in README):
- Categories produce duplicate class nodes (one per category file)
- Chained/nested message sends record only the innermost method
- `[Class alloc]` patterns don't emit `instantiates` edges
- `@protocol Foo <Bar>` refinement lists not yet wired to `implements`
- Heavy C++ in `.mm` files may parse incompletely under the ObjC grammar
Addresses PHP traits extracted as classes, missing class properties, skipped constants, and invisible trait usage. Adds classifyClassNode to distinguish traits from classes, fixes property extraction for PHP's property_element AST structure (added 4,366 field nodes), and adds visitNode hook for class constants and trait use declarations (increased trait edges from 636 to 1,514). Also improves Liquid schema name handling and file path reference resolution. Verified against Laravel codebase.
Addresses Kotlin interfaces/enums extracted as classes, zero function calls, and missing `fun interface` declarations. Adds classifyClassNode to distinguish interfaces/enums from classes, resolveBody hook for non-field grammar, navigation_expression call handling, getReceiverType for extension functions, and visitNode hook to detect `fun interface` misparse patterns from tree-sitter-kotlin's lack of Kotlin 1.4+ syntax support. Verified against Koin and LeakCanary codebases.
Addresses Ruby bare method calls like `reset` that parse as identifier nodes instead of call expressions. Adds extractBareCall hook to detect statement-level identifiers that represent method calls, filtering out keywords, literals, and constants. Enables proper call relationship tracking for Ruby's parentheses-optional method syntax.
Addresses Ruby methods inside modules missing owner in qualified_name by adding visitNode hook to extract module AST nodes. Methods inside modules now get Module::method qualified names with proper containment relationships. Includes ExtractorContext wiring with pushScope/popScope for language hooks and updates isInsideClassLikeNode to include module kind for nested method handling.
Addresses C#'s property_declaration nodes (public string Name { get; set; }) by adding propertyTypes support and extractProperty method. Improves field extraction to handle C#'s nested variable_declaration > variable_declarator structure. Adds base_list handling in extractInheritance for C#'s `: Parent, IInterface` syntax where base class and interfaces are combined in a single colon-separated list.
Addresses C++ macros like NLOHMANN_JSON_NAMESPACE_BEGIN that cause tree-sitter to misparse namespace blocks as function_definitions. Adds isMisparsedFunction hook to filter macro artifacts while still visiting their bodies to extract legitimate class/struct/enum definitions hidden inside the misparsed "function" scope.
Addresses Go's tree-sitter parsing where structs and interfaces are wrapped in type_spec nodes rather than appearing as direct node types. Moves struct_type and interface_type detection from direct node type matching to a new resolveTypeAliasKind resolver that examines the inner type field, ensuring proper extraction with field visiting and inheritance detection.
Adds nameMatchBonus scoring to prioritize results where node names exactly or partially match query terms. Implements dedicated field extraction for Java/C# to properly categorize class fields vs variables. Optimizes BM25 search with column weights favoring name matches and increased result fetching before post-processing. Refines stop words list to preserve common programming terms like "get", "find", "list".
Extends AST parsing to identify and extract individual enum members/cases for better code analysis. Adds enumMemberTypes configuration to each language extractor with language-specific node types (e.g., 'enum_variant' for Rust, 'enum_case' for PHP, 'enum_entry' for Swift/Kotlin). Implements flexible member name resolution supporting both field-based and identifier-based extraction patterns.
Improves search accuracy by boosting results when multiple query symbols appear in the same file, addressing cases where common names like "run" return too many results. Adds Go method receiver type extraction to qualified names for better searchability (e.g., "scrapeLoop.run"). Optimizes database queries with two-pass approach to handle distinctive vs common symbol names efficiently.
Splits the monolithic tree-sitter.ts (3,358 lines) into modular files:
- 14 language config files under src/extraction/languages/
- 3 standalone extractors (Liquid, Svelte, DFM)
- Shared helpers and types modules to avoid circular imports
Also fixes a bug where Java's extractImport hook incorrectly set
handledRefs: true, preventing unresolved reference creation and
degrading codegraph_explore results for Java codebases.
