Colby McHenry e5897d0334 feat: remove reasoning offload / CodeGraph AI managed reasoning feature
Strips the bring-your-own-model reasoning offload and managed CodeGraph AI
integration (login/logout/usage commands, offload config/credentials/reasoner
modules, and the synthesizeOffload call in codegraph_explore). The eval findings
showed raw source output outperformed the synthesized path on accuracy, so
codegraph_explore reverts to returning verbatim retrieved source exclusively.

CHANGELOG and README sections for reasoning offload are removed; test comments
and DEFAULT_MCP_TOOLS description are updated to drop offload references.

Colby McHenryandClaude Opus 4.8 db4c9f3641 feat(offload): reasoning offload for codegraph_explore (bring-your-own endpoint)
codegraph_explore can now hand the source it retrieved to a reasoning model you
point at — any OpenAI-compatible endpoint (Cerebras, OpenAI, a local vLLM/Ollama)
with your own key — and return that model's tight, cited answer instead of the
raw source dump. The agent's main context gets the answer in far fewer tokens, at
the cost of one network round-trip.

Off by default. Configure with `codegraph offload set-endpoint <url> --model <m>
--key-env <ENV>` (or the CODEGRAPH_OFFLOAD_* env vars); status/disable manage it.
The API key is never written to disk — the config stores the NAME of an env var
and the key is read from it at call time. Strictly degradable: any failure
(no endpoint, network, timeout, empty answer) returns null and the call falls
back to the local source, so the offload can never surface an error to the agent.

64ff7597d0 fix(cli): stop serve --mcp from confusing humans — hide it + explain on a TTY (#867)
`codegraph serve --mcp` is the stdio MCP server an AI agent launches for itself
(the installer wires it into every agent's MCP config), not a command a human
runs. Run by hand in a terminal it just hung waiting for JSON-RPC, looking
broken.

- Hide `serve` from `--help` (commander `{ hidden: true }`); it stays fully
  invocable, so agents are unaffected.
- When stdin is an interactive TTY (a person — never the agent's pipe or the
  detached daemon), print what it is and point to `codegraph status` /
  `codegraph daemon`, then exit instead of hanging.
- README: drop `serve --mcp` from the CLI Reference and stop the troubleshooting
  section from telling users to run it; keep the accurate "your agent launches
  it" note.

Verified: agent path intact (22 MCP handshake/daemon tests pass), `serve` absent
from --help, and the TTY path prints the message and exits cleanly.

070ce4da2b feat(cli): codegraph version command + complete CLI Reference (#864)
* feat(cli): codegraph version command + complete CLI Reference

Add a `codegraph version` subcommand plus the `-v` and `-version`
spellings (commander already wires up `--version`/`-V`), so the version
is easy to reach however a user guesses at it. The `-v`/`-version` forms
are intercepted before commander parses — its version short flag is the
capital `-V`, and its parser rejects a multi-character single-dash flag.
A trailing `-v` on a subcommand still means `--verbose`.

Document the previously-missing commands in the README CLI Reference:
`daemon`/`daemons`, `unlock`, `telemetry`, `version`, and `help`.

06a410e9b4 feat(extraction): R language support (#828) (#839)
R has no declaration syntax — everything is an expression — so the
extractor works through the visitNode hook: functions in every
assignment form (incl. nested, attributed to their enclosing scope),
top-level variables/constants, library()/require() imports and
source() file references (claimed, Lua-style), S4/RefClass/R6/ggproto
classes with their methods and extends edges, setGeneric/setMethod.
Grammar vendored from r-lib/tree-sitter-r v1.2.0 (ABI 14; npm package
is a security placeholder, tree-sitter-wasms has no R).

Benchmarked on AnomalyDetection (8/8 named defs), dplyr (1027 fns),
ggplot2 (150 ggproto classes / 597 methods / 128 extends edges —
adding ggproto mid-bench flipped the large-repo A/B from a regression
to 2.4x faster than the no-codegraph arm).

848fde9f59 feat(telemetry): anonymous usage telemetry — documented schema, opt-out, public ingest worker (#834)
Adds anonymous usage statistics (commands/tools used, languages indexed,
connecting agents) with a strict, auditable allowlist. Never code, paths,
file/symbol names, queries, or IPs.

- src/telemetry/: zero-dep client — consent resolution (DO_NOT_TRACK >
  CODEGRAPH_TELEMETRY > stored choice > default-on), random machine UUID,
  in-memory counters → capped JSONL buffer → completed-day rollups; sync
  exit-append (survives process.exit) + opportunistic bounded sends; the
  first-run notice gates the first SEND, never local buffering, so the
  installer's consent toggle always precedes it. Off is off: no recording,
  no socket, buffered data deleted.
- codegraph telemetry status|on|off; per-command counting via preAction hook.
- MCP: tool counting after the reply is on the wire (session + proxy
  in-process fallback), agent attribution from initialize clientInfo,
  unref'd daemon flush interval. Zero hot-path cost, zero stdout.
- Installer: visible default-on consent toggle (asked once, never re-asked),
  install/index/uninstall lifecycle events.
- telemetry-worker/: public Cloudflare Worker behind telemetry.getcodegraph.com
  — allowlist validation, IP stripping, per-machine rate limit, forwards to
  PostHog as anonymous events. Ships nowhere with the npm package.
- TELEMETRY.md (field-by-field contract) + README section + design doc.
- 20 unit tests; suite-wide CODEGRAPH_TELEMETRY=0 guard so tests never
  pollute real telemetry. Full suite: 1448 passing.

8170d181f2 feat(cli+installer): codegraph explore/node CLI + instructions-file block — subagent & non-MCP reach (#704) (#819)
Task-tool subagents never see the MCP initialize instructions and hold
the MCP tools only as deferred names they rarely think to load — so
delegated work bypassed codegraph almost entirely (measured ~1 of 9
forced-delegation runs touched it; the rest did 30-50 grep/read calls).
Two additions close the gap:

- CLI: `codegraph explore` and `codegraph node` call the same ToolHandler
  as the MCP tools and print identical output — the graph for any agent
  with a shell (subagents, Gemini CLI, raw Codex, humans).
- Installer: each agent target (claude/codex/gemini/opencode) writes a
  short marker-fenced CodeGraph section into its instructions file —
  the one channel subagents DO receive — naming both surfaces. Upsert
  self-heals the stale pre-#529 long block; uninstall strips it; re-runs
  are byte-equal unchanged. (#529's duplication argument bounded the
  size: four lines, commands only.)

A/B (excalidraw, sonnet/high, forced Explore-agent delegation): without
the block, subagent codegraph usage ~1/9 runs; with it, 4/4 — subagents
ToolSearch-load the MCP tools and run explore 5-7x, best runs with ZERO
Read/grep (80-95s vs 150-197s baseline). The block's mechanism: the
parent relays the note into the task prompt, making the deferred tool
names salient.

Contract tests updated to the new expectations (write + self-heal
replace the #529 strip-only behavior); README install/guidance sections
refreshed (they also still described the pre-#817/#818 tool surface).

823ffd1c3d feat(extraction+resolution): Astro support — frontmatter/template extraction + src/pages routes (#768) (#815)
.astro files were not indexed at all, leaving a typical Astro site mostly
invisible to search/impact/explore. New AstroExtractor (Svelte/Vue SFC
pattern): component node per file, TS frontmatter + <script> blocks
delegated to the TypeScript extractor, template {fn(...)} calls (incl. the
multiline `{posts.map((post) => (` opening line), PascalCase component-tag
references. New astroResolver: Astro global + astro:* virtual modules as
framework-provided, component resolution with the #764 ambiguity rule,
src/pages/ file-based routes ([param]→:param, [...rest]→*rest, _-prefixed
and *.config.* excluded). SFC languages now preload the TS/JS grammars
their extractors delegate to (a pure-SFC file set previously had none
loaded). Also fixes a pre-existing Svelte/Vue script-block off-by-one that
reported every script symbol one line low.

Validated per the playbook: stalux (the issue's repro) 54/54 .astro files
indexed, getIconNode found at its exact line, 14/14 routes, 93.0% fair
cross-file coverage; AstroPaper 27/27 components, 13/13 routes (underscore
dirs correctly excluded), explore connects page→Card→Datetime through the
jsx-render synthesizer; node/edge counts stable across re-syncs.

c39b4b938e docs(readme): fill framework-coverage gaps — add Play, Vue/Nuxt, Scala (#798)
The framework story was missing several supported frameworks:

- Play (Scala/Java) — absent from both the Framework-aware Routes table and
  the routing-coverage line. Measured 76.3% (106/139 routes resolved to a
  handler) across the 31 verb-route apps in playframework/play-samples; every
  miss is Play's framework-provided `Assets` controller (vendored library
  code, not app source). Slots into the convention-ceiling bucket.
- Vue Router / Nuxt — recognized (file-based pages/, server/api/, middleware)
  but missing from the routes table.
- Scala + Vue — missing from the "20+ Languages" highlight.

File-based routers (SvelteKit, Vue/Nuxt) have no separate handler edge — the
page IS the handler — so their coverage is the fair-coverage language figure
(Svelte/SvelteKit 100%, Vue/Nuxt 93.5%), now cited explicitly.

Existing framework numbers left untouched (they were measured ad-hoc; a fresh
re-measure would shift them and isn't part of this gap-fill).

b7b7c8b4e8 docs(readme): update Pascal/Delphi coverage 75.7% → 77.4% (#797)
The paren-less call extraction (#793) and free-routine attribution (#795)
added real call coverage on PascalCoin. Controlled A/B on a fresh clone,
same source-file filter, only the build differing:

  baseline (pre-Pascal-work, d21d2df): 75.79%  (≈ the documented 75.7%)
  current  (main, v18):                77.37%  (+1.58)

The baseline reproducing the documented 75.7% confirms the metric is the
same one the README table uses; the +1.58 is the measured coverage gain
from this session's Pascal extraction work.

a56d9e6941 feat(directory): CODEGRAPH_DIR env var to override the index dir name (#636) (#741)
Two environments that share one working tree — most concretely Windows
and WSL — can't safely share a single `.codegraph/`: the daemon lockfile
records a platform-specific pid + socket (named pipe vs Unix socket), and
SQLite locking across the WSL2/Windows filesystem boundary is unreliable,
so two daemons over one index risks corruption.

Add a `CODEGRAPH_DIR` env var (default `.codegraph`) that overrides the
per-project data directory name, so each environment keeps its own index
in the same tree (e.g. `CODEGRAPH_DIR=.codegraph-win` on Windows). The
name is resolved live and validated (rejects separators / `..` / absolute,
falling back to the default with a one-time stderr warning). Indexing and
file-watching now skip ANY `.codegraph-*` sibling so neither side trips
over the other's data.

Routes the previously-hardcoded `.codegraph` literals (db path, lockfile,
error log, watcher ignore, file-scan skip, installer) through the
resolver. No extraction-version bump — index content is unchanged.

4e5cf2de56 feat(cli): add codegraph upgrade self-update + stale-index re-index hint (#710)
`codegraph upgrade [version]` detects how the CLI was installed — the standalone
install.sh/install.ps1 bundle, npm-global, npx, or a source checkout — and
updates in place: re-running the canonical install.sh on macOS/Linux, an
in-place rename-and-extract swap on Windows (a running node.exe can't be
deleted, only renamed, so the detached-helper approach is avoided), and
npm/npx/source-specific guidance otherwise. Flags: `--check` (report only),
`--force`, and a positional version to pin.

Each full index is now stamped with the engine's EXTRACTION_VERSION in
project_metadata; `codegraph status` (and `--json`) flags an index built by an
older engine and recommends re-indexing, and `upgrade` prints the same reminder.
Gated on EXTRACTION_VERSION so it never nags on extraction-neutral releases.

Validated end-to-end on macOS (real bundle upgrade), Linux (Docker, real
curl|sh) and Windows (Parallels VM, real in-place swap). 32 new unit tests.

Completes the cross-file dependency graph behind impact / affected / explore across all 22 supported languages and 14 web frameworks, validated on real-world repos (measured fair-coverage table added to the README). Per-language resolution + framework resolvers/synthesizers (Lua/Luau require, Shopify OS 2.0 Liquid sections, Delphi forms, Rust cross-module + Rocket macros, Swift Fluent, SvelteKit/Nuxt loader/component conventions, RN/Expo bridges). 0 cross-family false edges, full suite green (1187 passed). See #708.

Replaces the plain oxblood-filled rectangle + system-font text SVG with a
polished button that matches the getcodegraph.com design language:

- Cream (#f7f6f2) rounded-rect background with a soft hairline border, 8px
  radius, 52px height
- Logo mark (graph triangle, mirrors favicon.svg) in ink/oxblood at left
- Hairline divider separating mark from label
- "Join the waitlist!" label rendered as vector outlines (Archivo Bold 760,
  17.5px) so the brand typeface renders correctly on GitHub, which blocks
  @font-face in statically-served SVGs
- Oxblood arrow at right

Adds assets/generate-waitlist.py (requires fonttools + brotli) so the SVG
can be regenerated from the landing-page's Archivo variable font. Updates
the README img height from 44→52 to match the new geometry.

Batch of small, localized fixes from an open-issue triage:

- .codegraph/.gitignore now ignores everything but itself, so the database,
  daemon.pid, sockets, and logs stop showing up in git status (#492, #484)
- MCP server answers resources/list and prompts/list with empty lists instead
  of -32601, clearing scary log lines in opencode/Codex (#621)
- index SAP HANA .xsjs/.xsjslib as JavaScript (#556) and TS .mts/.cts (#366)
- visit anonymous AMD/CommonJS/IIFE wrapper bodies so their inner functions and
  calls are indexed instead of coming up empty (#528)
- batch the changed-file lookup so a huge first sync no longer hits
  "too many SQL variables" (#540)
- list files with `git ls-files -z` so non-ASCII/CJK paths survive
  core.quotepath and are no longer silently skipped (#541)
- attach Go methods on generic receivers (*T[P]) to their type (#583, RC1)
- impact no longer climbs the structural `contains` edge, so a leaf symbol
  stops dragging in its sibling methods (#536)

## Summary

Completes the explore-overhaul arc: `codegraph_explore` becomes the single primary tool an agent reaches for, and its coverage + output shape are tuned so flow/architecture questions resolve with near-zero Read/Grep.

### What changed
- **explore is the sole primary tool** — removed `codegraph_context` (the fuzzy-input Read-trigger) and `codegraph_trace` (under-picked by agents); explore already surfaces the call flow among the symbols you name. A plain natural-language question now works as the query.
- **Store/handler coverage** — functions defined inside object literals (Zustand `create((set, get) => ({ … }))`, Redux/Pinia/MobX, exported handler/route maps) are indexed as real symbols, including calls through `useStore.getState().fn()` and destructured `const { fn } = useStore.getState()`. A general AST rule, not a per-lib hack.
- **Overload disambiguation** — explore leads with the *right* definition when a method name is overloaded across types (a PascalCase type token in the query biases to that type's own def); `codegraph_node` returns *every* overload's body in one call, with an optional `file`/`line` selector to pin one.
- **Method-atomic render** — explore never returns half a method; at the size budget it drops whole methods/files (and lists what it dropped) instead of truncating a body mid-method.
- **Native-read-shaped output** — per-call output is capped to ~24K with a 25K hard ceiling and concentrated into ~150–250-line flow windows, mirroring how the agent natively reads; repo size scales the *call* budget, not the per-call size (a larger response just gets externalized to a file the host Reads back).
- **Blast radius** folded into explore (dependents + covering tests, locations only).

### Benchmark (refreshed on this build)
Re-validated the 7-repo A/B on 2026-06-02 (Opus 4.8, effort=high, median of 4). WITH arm re-measured on this build, WITHOUT reused:

**~16% cheaper · 47% fewer tokens · 22% faster · 58% fewer tool calls** — 0 file reads on 6 of 7 repos (Gin ~1).

The arc trades larger, cache-heavy explore responses for guaranteed near-zero reads, so cost/token margins soften vs the prior build (Excalidraw and Tokio land at cost break-even) while time and tool-calls stay clear wins everywhere — consistent with the project's stated optimization target (latency + tool-calls, not token cost).

### Validation
- Full suite green: **1112 passed, 2 skipped**.
- 28/28 plain WITH runs across the 7 README repos completed clean; reads median 0 on 6/7.

89d4d37a29 feat(npm): restore programmatic/embedded SDK API (#354) (#603)
The 0.9.x thin-installer turned @colbymchenry/codegraph into a bin-only
shim: require("@colbymchenry/codegraph") threw MODULE_NOT_FOUND and no
types shipped, breaking embedded library consumers (e.g. Electron apps)
upgrading from 0.8.0.

Restore programmatic use without re-bloating the thin shim or duplicating
the ~49 MB of grammars the per-platform bundle already carries:

- main -> npm-sdk.js re-exports the installed per-platform bundle's compiled
  library (lib/dist/index.js) at runtime, reusing that bundle's own deps; it
  falls back to a self-healed cache bundle, else throws an actionable error.
- types -> ship the .d.ts tree only (~590 KB) in the main package, built from
  the same release so it can never skew from the runtime it re-exports.
- exports map resolves the `types` condition (nodenext) and the default entry.
- DatabaseConnection + QueryBuilder are now top-level exports, so embedded
  callers get the building blocks from the package entry instead of deep
  dist/ imports (which the shim no longer ships).

The CLI/MCP `bin` keeps execing the bundled Node; only library consumers run
on their own runtime, which must be Node 22.5+ for the built-in node:sqlite.

Validated end-to-end: built a real darwin-arm64 bundle, packed the npm
packages, installed them into a throwaway consumer, and confirmed require()
plus a full init/indexAll/searchNodes round-trip and the low-level
DatabaseConnection/QueryBuilder path all work on the host Node; types resolve
under both nodenext and classic node resolution; and the CLI shim still
launches. New hermetic tests cover npm-sdk resolution, cache fallback, and the
missing-bundle error.

Sizes codegraph_explore to the answer, not the file count: shows the mechanism +
the exact methods you named in full (even buried in a large file) while collapsing
redundant interchangeable implementations to signatures. Adds uniqueness-aware
spare, per-symbol focused rendering of family files, all-tier test-file exclusion,
and named-method cluster survival in non-sibling god-files.

Validated A/B (Opus 4.8, 7-repo sweep): avg 25%% cheaper / 57%% fewer tokens / 23%%
faster / 62%% fewer tool calls. Django 9->23%% cheaper (0 reads), OkHttp 4->11%%
cheaper; gains across small/medium/large, inert repos unchanged.

f1b14f021b feat(mcp): adaptive codegraph_explore sizing — skeletonize redundant polymorphic siblings (#564)
codegraph_explore now skeletonizes off-spine, redundant members of a polymorphic
family (OkHttp's interceptor chain, Django's SQLCompiler family) to signatures
instead of shipping every full body, while keeping the dispatch mechanism, the
orchestrator/base, and any method the agent named in full. Sizes the response to
the answer rather than the budget cap, so interface-heavy flows stop costing more
than plain grep/read. Default on; CODEGRAPH_ADAPTIVE_EXPLORE=0 disables.

Opus 4.8's extended-thinking TUI shows no spinner / interrupt hint / timer while it streams its final answer — those appear only during the thinking and tool-use phases. The old detector treated ~5s of not-busy + prompt-present as done, so it killed interactive runs mid-answer, silently truncating both arms of the tmux A/B (low tool counts; the final assistant message left as a mid-investigation preamble). Now a run is done only when the captured pane stops changing for ~8s; while streaming, the pane changes every poll so stability never accrues. BUSY_RE stays as the immediate busy-reset for the thinking/tool/live-timer phase. Content-stability is model-agnostic — it survives future spinner re-wordings.

Gated on the dispatcher existing (inert on non-gin Go repos), named handlers only (inline closures skipped), capped; provenance heuristic / synthesizedBy gin-middleware-chain, registeredAt = the registration site. Validated: gin callees(Next) now surfaces Logger/Recovery/ErrorLogger + handlers (node count stable at 2,544; 5 precise edges); agent A/B (headless median-of-4, Opus 4.8) flipped gin from -58% cost / -129% time to +7% cost / +35% tokens / +8% time / 38% tool calls, all 4 WITH runs clean (0 Read/Grep/Bash). 167/167 unit tests pass incl. the new gin-middleware-chain test.

a9c9e76d8c fix(installer): stop duplicating agent instructions; MCP server is the single source of truth (#529) (#538)
The installer wrote a `## CodeGraph` usage block into each agent's
instructions file (CLAUDE.md / AGENTS.md / GEMINI.md / .cursor/rules /
Kiro steering) that duplicated, almost verbatim, the guidance the MCP
server already emits in its `initialize` response — so agents that
surface MCP instructions (Claude Code) read the same playbook twice
every turn.

All 6 instruction-writing targets (claude, cursor, codex, opencode,
gemini, kiro) now stop writing the block. install self-heals by
stripping a block a previous version wrote (uninstall already did), so
the next `codegraph install`/`uninstall` cleans up existing installs;
upgrading the package alone does not (the leftover block is harmless).
server-instructions.ts is now the single source of truth — the two
steers unique to the old template ("trust codegraph, don't re-verify
with grep" and the not-initialized -> `init -i` hint) are ported there.

Removes the now-dead INSTRUCTIONS_TEMPLATE / CLAUDE_MD_TEMPLATE,
claude-md-template.ts, writeClaudeMd / hasClaudeMdSection, and the
Cursor-only wireProjectSurfaces bootstrap. The install log learned a
"Removed" verb. Tests rewritten to the new contract + self-heal
coverage (140/140 installer tests pass).

180ba785ce feat(installer): add Gemini CLI + Antigravity IDE targets (#399) (#458)
`codegraph install` now detects and configures two more agents:

- Gemini CLI / Antigravity CLI — `~/.gemini/settings.json` (or
  `./.gemini/settings.json`) + `~/.gemini/GEMINI.md` (or project-root
  `./GEMINI.md`). Preserves pre-existing top-level settings like
  `security.auth` and sibling MCP servers.

- Antigravity IDE — writes to Antigravity's unified MCP config at
  `~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json` (post-migration, detected via
  the `.migrated` marker Antigravity drops). Falls back to the
  legacy `~/.gemini/antigravity/mcp_config.json` on pre-migration
  builds; install migrates a stale legacy entry, uninstall sweeps
  both. Antigravity-managed sibling fields (e.g. the `disabled` flag
  added when users disable a server through the UI) survive re-install.

  Two Antigravity-specific quirks the target handles:
  1. Entries with `type: "stdio"` are silently rejected by
     Antigravity's MCP scanner; we omit the field for this target.
  2. macOS GUI apps launched from Dock/Finder get a stripped PATH
     that excludes nvm — a bare `codegraph` command name fails to
     spawn even when `which codegraph` works in the user's shell.
     The target resolves `codegraph` to its absolute path at install
     time on macOS. Linux + Windows are unaffected.

End-to-end validated:
- macOS: real Gemini CLI v0.43 via tmux — `/mcp` shows codegraph with
  all 10 tools, `codegraph_status` executes and returns real index
  state. Real Antigravity IDE shows codegraph under Customizations
  after restart.
- Linux (Docker node:22-bookworm) + Windows (Parallels Win11): 116
  installer tests pass; CLI install + uninstall round-trip verified.

Test coverage: the new targets inherit the existing parameterized
contract (idempotent install, sibling preservation, install/uninstall
round-trip). Plus 14 target-specific tests covering migration-marker
detection, legacy→unified entry migration, `disabled` flag
preservation, the `type` field omission, gemini+antigravity
coexistence in the same `~/.gemini/`, and macOS-only path resolution.
Full suite: 972 passing.

Closes #399.

Originated from issue #438 ("Will newly created files be missing from

indexed. They shouldn't have to test for themselves to find out.

  2. Per-file staleness banner (#403) — covers the debounce window.
     Quoted the actual banner format + the verified Claude Code
     follow-up Read behaviour.
  3. Connect-time catch-up (#414) — covers gaps when the MCP server
     wasn't running.

Plus: how to verify state via codegraph_status (### Pending sync:),
when manual codegraph sync DOES make sense (watcher disabled / CI
scripting), and a link out to the v0.9.5 release notes.

## README.md

Added a <details><summary> collapsible right under the Key Features
table — primed by the existing 'Always Fresh' row in that table.
Condensed to ~10 lines covering the same three layers + a code-block
flow diagram + the verify command, with a deep link to the full guide.
GitHub renders <details> blocks natively, so the section is collapsed
by default and doesn't make the README scroll-length grow visibly.

Heading kept as 'Stay fresh automatically' (single-word slug) so the
README's deep-link anchor is predictable; the longer tagline lives on
its own line below.

940/942 tests still pass; no code changes.

- `@protocol` (as `protocol` nodes via new `interfaceKind` config)
- Methods with full multi-part selectors (`doThing:with:`, not just `doThing`),
  including `+`/`-` static distinction
- `@property` declarations
- Inheritance (`extends`) and protocol conformance (`implements`)
- C-style `function_definition` and `#import` (both `<system>` and `"local"` forms)
- Call edges from both `call_expression` and `message_expression`,
  with `self`/`super` skipped on qualified callee names

Two new generic hooks on `LanguageExtractor` (`resolveName`,
`extractPropertyName`) handle the cases where the default name walk
doesn't fit; usable by future languages with similar shape.

Import resolver tries `.h`, `.m`, `.mm` for `objc` imports.

Validated on AFNetworking (84 files, 100% file coverage), RestKit
(282 files, 99.6%), and Texture (926 files, 100%, heavy `.mm`
content) — multi-keyword selectors preserved up to 7 parts, no parse
failures on ObjC++.

Known limitations (disclosed in README):
- Categories produce duplicate class nodes (one per category file)
- Chained/nested message sends record only the innermost method
- `[Class alloc]` patterns don't emit `instantiates` edges
- `@protocol Foo <Bar>` refinement lists not yet wired to `implements`
- Heavy C++ in `.mm` files may parse incompletely under the ObjC grammar

  EventEmitters), correlates registration sites, and synthesizes
  dispatcher->callback `calls` edges (provenance:'heuristic'). Records the

- frameworks/python.ts + resolution/{index,types}.ts: claimsReference hook +

- extraction/tree-sitter.ts: extract named nested functions so inline named
  handlers become linkable nodes.

So agents used trace only by chance; when one didn't, it floundered
reconstructing the path with search+callers (an 18-call run vs ~6 for trace-users).

Add codegraph_trace to the intent map + a "flow" common chain (trace from->to
FIRST = the whole path in one call, then ONE explore for bodies) across all three
synced files (server-instructions, instructions-template, .cursor rule).

Validated on excalidraw (hard "to the screen" Q, n=4 before/after):

  (router/prefix-root routes, frequently multi-line). Allow empty path +
  guard the route name against a trailing space.
- Python builtin-name guard (src/resolution/index.ts): a handler named
  after a Python builtin method (index/get/update/count…) was filtered by
  isBuiltInOrExternal and lost its route→handler edge. Mirror the
  dotted-method branch's knownNames guard onto the bare branch — a bare
  name a declared symbol owns is a real target, not a builtin call.
  +2 legit edges on realworld, 0 change on the django control (precision held).

Tests: new Flask (intervening/stacked decorator) and FastAPI (empty-path,
multi-line) extractor cases + a Flask end-to-end integration test (a view
named `index` behind @login_required). Also corrects 6 pre-existing stale
Laravel/Rails route-ref assertions surfaced by the suite — they expected
the old bare action name, but the resolvers now emit precise
controller@action / controller#action (from earlier precision commits).

  "name":"drupal/<m>" + "type":"drupal-module" (admin_toolbar → 0 routes).
  Broaden to composer name/type + a *.info.yml fallback.

Remaining unresolved is the entity-annotation handler frontier
(_entity_form: type.op) and OOP #[Hook] attributes (Drupal 11 moved ~all

dominant actix style, unextracted; attribute macros 35/51). Fix is
Axum-scoped — the attribute/actix/Rocket path is untouched. Tests: chained

Canonical flow traverses (createPostHandler <- GET /createPost ->

references: [], so React Router <Route> declarations produced no route
nodes or route→component edges. Add <Route> JSX extraction: scan a window

the match), pull path="…" + component={C} (v5) or element={<C/>} (v6) in
any attribute order, emit a route node + component reference (resolved by
the existing PascalCase resolveComponent). The <Routes> container is
excluded via the \b boundary.

react-realworld 0→10 routes, 10/10 resolved (/login→Login,
/editor/:slug→Editor, /@:username→Profile). No regression on excalidraw
(9,290 nodes, 46 react-render synth edges intact, 0 false routes). Tests:
v5 component=, v6 element=, <Routes>-container guard. Suite green (794).

Frontier: object data-router createBrowserRouter([{path,element}]) (modern
v6) is object-based not JSX — not covered.

direct .to(h) (method ANY), plus the App-level .route("/x",
web::METHOD().to(h)) form. actix-examples 51→128 routes, 35→112 resolved

(realworld-axum still 19/19). Tests: resource+route, resource direct .to,
App-level route. Suite green (797).

- Flutter setState→build synthesizer channel (the Dart analog of react-render):
  for each Dart class with a `build` method, link sibling methods whose body
  calls setState( → build. setState re-runs build (Flutter-internal, no static
  edge), so "tap → handler → setState → rebuilt UI" dead-ended at setState.

counter initState→build, books build→BookDetail/BookForm. Widget composition
needs no synthesis — Dart widgets are explicit constructor calls, already
static (compass_app build→ErrorIndicator/HomeButton). Tests: Dart method
spans its body; Flutter handler→build synthesis end-to-end. Suite green (798).

Frontier: MVVM Command/ChangeNotifier dispatch (no setState) + Navigator.push
route-as-widget navigation.

Extend the Spring resolver: languages ['java','kotlin'], accept .kt, and add
a Kotlin `fun name(` alternative to the handler-method regex (Kotlin has no
access modifier; the return type follows the name). Also allow Kotlin class
modifiers (open/data/sealed) in the class @RequestMapping-prefix detection,
and tag route/ref language per file.

spring-petclinic-kotlin 0→18 routes, 18/18 resolved; class @RequestMapping
prefixes join, stacked annotations skipped, DI controller→repo resolves
(showOwner ← GET /owners/{ownerId} → OwnerRepository.findById). Java Spring
unchanged (realworld 19/19 — the Kotlin fun and Java public-X alternatives
are disjoint per language). Jetpack Compose composition already works
(@Composable→child are plain function calls). Tests: Kotlin @GetMapping+fun,
class-prefix + stacked annotation. Suite green (800).

starter 0→4 (3/4). Flow connects request→route→controller→DAO. No-regression
(excalidraw 9,290 / suite unchanged). Tests: routes parse + `->` include
skipped, conf/routes file detection.

Frontier: SIRD programmatic routers (-> include + case GET(p"/x")) + Akka

  each extends edge, link each base method → the subclass override of the
  same name, so trace/callees from a virtual/interface method reach the
  implementation. Gated to C++, capped per class. leveldb 12 precise edges
  (Iterator::Next/Seek/Prev → MergingIterator), 0 on C (redis) and TS
  (excalidraw). Test: base virtual → subclass override bridge.

Frontier: C callback structs (cmd->proc() → 422-way fan-out, too noisy)
and C++ pure-virtual base methods (declarations aren't nodes, so those
overrides can't bridge). Suite green (804).

Add `codegraph callers`, `codegraph callees`, and `codegraph impact` CLI commands, bringing the CLI to parity with the codegraph_callers/callees/impact MCP tools — so the graph-traversal queries work in scripts, CI, and git hooks without a running MCP server. All three support `--path` and `--json`; `impact` groups output by file to match the MCP layout.

f6772dac7c feat: zero-config indexing driven by .gitignore (#283) (#285)
Remove .codegraph/config.json and the entire config surface. CodeGraph now
indexes every file whose extension maps to a supported language and respects
.gitignore everywhere — git repos via git itself, non-git projects via the
`ignore` library (root + nested .gitignore files, the same way git does).

- Remove CodeGraphConfig/DEFAULT_CONFIG, src/config.ts, and the public config
  API (the `config` option on init, getConfig/updateConfig/getConfigPath).
- Derive the source-file allowlist from EXTENSION_MAP (isSourceFile); maxFileSize
  is now a constant. Drop the .codegraphignore marker.
- Behavior change: committed, non-gitignored dirs (vendor/, a committed dist/)
  are now indexed — .gitignore is the single source of truth.

Earlier inert fields (languages, frameworks, extractDocstrings, trackCallSites,
customPatterns) and their dead helpers are removed as part of this.

Resolves #283.
